The Heart Trail is perfect for your heart – both literally as it is a walk in the nature, and metaphorically as your heart will start pounding amid all the beauty along the way.

It starts at the mountain hut on Črne Njive, going north by the former military range and up the hill on the right. At the top, you will pass ancient walls built by Illyrian tribes thousands of years ago. As the trail descends, turn right at the crossroads. A short climb will lead you to the Sviščaki road, which will leads back down to the starting point.

The entire trail is maintained by the Coronary Society of Ilirska Bistrica. A guided tour is held every first Sunday of the spring, summer and autumn months, and a huge event is organized annually on The Heart Day, which falls on the last Saturday of September.
