Kette’s Trail
Kette’s Trail a literary trail dedicated to the writer Dragotin Kette (1876-1899), one of the representatives of Slovenian modernism. It was established by the Association Kette’s route in 2006.

It runs between Prem, the birthplace of Dragotin Kette, and Trnovo (today a part of the town of Ilirska Bistrica), the poet's holiday destination. It is just over 9 km long in one direction. It is on asphalt and macadam.
It is for all those who are looking for inspiration to achieve their goals in life and who love literature, heritage, nature, recreation and local cuisine.
The Municipality of Ilirska Bistrica, together with other stakeholders in the project Continuity of self renovated it and opened it on the Slovenian Cultural Day, 8 February 2025.

Entry points
You can start the Kette Trail at the Dragotin Kette Primary School in Trnovo and head towards Kette's Prem.
You can go the other way. You start the Literary Walk at Prem Castle and descend to Trnovo (part of Ilirska Bistrica), where you finish the walk at the Dragotin Kette Primary School in Ilirska Bistrica.
You can start your hike along the Kette Trail about halfway along the literary route in the Posrtvica valley and head either towards Kette's Prem or towards Trnovo (part of Ilirska Bistrica).
As a guest of the Ivankotovi Tourist Farm, you can walk to Prem and from there follow the Kette Trail.
However, you can only visit Kette's Prem and/or Trnovo (Ilirska Bistrica).

For individual guests who would like to actively explore the story of Dragotin Kette in Ilirska Bistrica on their own, we have prepared book guides. Through them, you will also be able to listen to Kette's literary works, discover the cultural landscapes of Brkini and the river Reka Valley, local cuisine and test your knowledge of Dragotin Kette.
A special book guide is also available for families and schools to explore Kette's Prem. You will visit Prem Castle, the Kette Memorial Room and the Church of St Helena.

It's quite another thing to go on the Kette Trail with a local guide who will turn your visit to the literary trail into a real experience.
