Peternelj organic tourist farm
Just a stone’s throw from the main roads and the town, at the foot of the Brkini Hills, lies Peternelj Tourist Farm, surrounded by forests and streams. A mill once stood here, but today its doors are open to everyone seeking peace, relaxation, and a chance to reconnect with unspoilt nature while enjoying delicious homemade and organically produced food of exceptional quality.
The farm’s pastures are home to German Angus cattle and Slovenian Coldblood horses, while they also raise a small number of Krškopolje pigs, an indigenous Slovenian breed.
Guests are treated to home-grown food, with the aim of bringing the authentic flavours of the countryside to every plate. In addition to their own homemade prosciutto, salami, and pancetta, visitors can enjoy a variety of other meat dishes, especially those prepared with horse meat and Angus beef.
The animals are fed with locally produced feed, which enhances the quality of the meat and gives it a distinctive flavour. From the skilled hands of the farm’s hostess come homemade gnocchi, served with a mushroom sauce made from porcini mushrooms gathered in the nearby forest, as well as an excellent hunter’s goulash. Those with a sweet tooth can indulge in traditional homemade štruklji and a delicious Brkini-style strudel.
They offer rest and relaxation in 7 rooms and 2 apartments. All rooms have a private bathroom, air conditioning, TV and minibar. The apartments also have a kitchen with dining area.
