Mašun – Snežnik trail
The hike from Mašun to Snežnik is one of the most beautiful routes to the highest peak in Notranjska. The trail starts at the Mašun hunting lodge and then leads through the pleasant forest world of the Snežnik forests. At first, the trail goes moderately uphill through the coniferous forest, past viewpoints such as Puščetek and Vrh Pekla, and then begins a steeper climb towards the ridge.
In the upper part, the forest gives way to mountain heath and views of the entire Snežnik plateau. The last part of the trail follows the ridge over Mali Snežnik to Veliki Snežnik (1796 m), where the hiker is greeted by a magnificent view of Kvarner Bay, Velebit, the Alps and the inland valleys.
The trail is technically easy, but a bit more strenuous in terms of fitness, so it is especially suitable for experienced hikers.
