Breda Museum Park

Breda Museum Park, located beside the railway station in Ilirska Bistrica, was established by the Ilirska Bistrica Railway Enthusiasts Association. The park features two locomotives, a historic railway carriage, and a water crane once used to supply steam locomotives.

The Breda locomotive is one of only two surviving examples of the seventeen locomotives of its type that operated on Slovenian and Yugoslav railways during the Second World War and in the years of former Yugoslavia. The other is displayed in front of the Central Workshops of the Slovenian Railways in Ljubljana. Its successor was the JŽ Class 362 electric locomotive, popularly known as the Mehovka.

The museum carriage was built in 1917 in Königsfeld near Brno for the Imperial-Royal Austrian State Railways. In 1986, it was completely restored and adapted for use on heritage train excursions. Today, it is regarded as one of the most elegant museum carriages in the collection of the Slovenian Railways.
