Alpine-Mediterranean Cycle Route
The Alpine-Mediterranean Cycle Route, approximately 300 kilometres long and divided into six stages, links Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. It was designed by GoodTrail, a Slovenian company specialising in adventure travel, with the support of the European Union under the Inter Bike III project (Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027).
The route starts in Udine, Italy, passes through the Slovenian Alps and ends on the Croatian Adriatic coast. Along its route, it connects with the famous Ciclovia Alpe-Adria Radweg and the Trans Dinarica international route, which runs through eight countries in the Western Balkans. It thus creates a bridge between the cultures of Central and South-Eastern Europe.
The route is suitable for cyclists of all abilities and offers a unique slow travel experience combining sport, nature and cultural exploration. Cyclists can enjoy a variety of terrains - from asphalt roads to gravel and forest paths - and discover local culinary, musical and historical traditions.
As well as being a great adventure, the route also brings economic opportunities for local tourism operators, by promoting sustainable tourism and the development of tours that link the different cultures and natural beauty of the region.
