The art of beekeeping is ancient, dating back thousands of years. Andrej will introduce you to stories about the history and cultural significance of bees and honey, from antiquity to the present day, as the bee colony holds many secrets.

Special emphasis will also be placed on Slovenian history and innovations in the field of beekeeping, especially the so-called AŽ hive, whose designer, Anton Žnideršič, was at home in Ilirska Bistrica.

In a world full of culinary delights, few can compete with the variety and natural sweetness of honey. The honey tasting experience offers an insight into the fascinating world of beekeeping, where you will explore the history, culture and rich flavours of this golden nectar of nature. From tasting different types of honey to visiting a local apiary and experiencing virtual reality (VR), the Green Honey Experience appeals to all the senses.

Join beekeeper Andrew for a guided tasting of selected honeys. You'll learn about the specialities of flower, chestnut, acacia and forest honeys, often with a special or recent honey harvest to spice up the tasting.

The honey tasting takes place in Belakapa, a tourist accommodation located in Koseze near Ilirska Bistrica, which offers honey and other experiences in addition to accommodation in an authentically renovated house that is more than 250 years old.
