Milanja

This 38.4 km long trail with 937 m of ascent starts in Bač and leads through the picturesque Upper Pivka Valley and the karst landscape below Snežnik. Along the way, cyclists visit the ruins of Kalec Castle, enjoy the views from the Šilentabor hill and ride through quiet, traditional villages such as Šembije.

The route follows a combination of asphalt and macadam roads, including forest sections below Velika Milanja and parts of the Slovenian Touring Cycle Route. It is best suited for gravel bikes, but also suitable for trekking and mountain bikes.

Tastes along the way

The route is not only a sporting challenge, but also a real culinary experience.

On the way, stop at the Slavec farm, where you can taste the unique goat’s milk ice cream, one of the few in Slovenia, and other local delicacies for which the farm is famous. You can also recharge your batteries in Zagorje at Stari TIšljer, where you will find excellent local specialities – you will certainly not go hungry or thirsty. The route then continues to the famous Šilentabor, where you’ll be rewarded with magnificent views, followed by a stop in Šembije. From here, you climb up to Velika Milanja, where the views will take your breath away. For the perfect end to the day, lunch awaits you at the Mašun Guesthouse, renowned for its excellent cuisine. At the end of the day, it’s just a relaxing descent back to the starting point – or a return to Slavec Farm for another ice cream. 🍦Slavec Farm
