Make Your Own Wooden Toy & Beekeepers’ House Open Day – 2 July 7.

Summer holidays will be creative and full of exciting discoveries!

We are kicking off July with a children’s workshop: MAKE YOUR OWN WOODEN TOY, led by local children’s toy maker Primož Rojc.

During the workshop, we will shape and paint a little fish (a threading toy), learn the basics of woodworking, and discover different techniques for decorating wooden toys. We will also see how much effort, skill, and creativity are actually needed to create such beautiful handmade products. Find out more about Domače igrače (Homemade Toys) here.

You can register your child* for the workshop by 1 July 2026 7. or until all places are filled by emailing info@tic-ilbistrica.si. The workshop will take place on Thursday, 2 July 2026 7. from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm at the Beekeepers’ House in Ilirska Bistrica.

*If your child attends kindergarten or the first three grades of primary school, one parent/guardian must be present during the workshop.

But that’s not all! The local beekeepers from the Anton Žnideršič Beekeepers’ Association of Ilirska Bistrica will also open their doors wide and welcome visitors. They will present their work and honey products and take us on a journey through their rich beekeeping collection. FREE GUIDED TOURS will be available at 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm!

All young artists are also invited to visit the BEE DRAWING CORNER, where we will have fun creating on paper too!
