Kette’s Hike also attracted numerous hikers from other parts of Slovenia.

More than 250 hikers took part in Kette's Hike from Ilirska Bistrica to Prem on Prešeren Day, Slovenia's national cultural holiday.
After several days of rain, the weather forecast promised a beautiful, sunny holiday, encouraging not only many local residents but also visitors from Celje, Novo Mesto, Vrhnika, Ljubljana, the wider Primorska region, and many other parts of Slovenia to join the hike. Their confidence in the forecast was well placed.

Each year, a growing number of visitors from other parts of Slovenia join local residents on the hike. They say they are drawn by the opportunity to discover new experiences and explore places and cultural heritage they have not yet had the chance to visit and learn about.

Along the route, all of the area's key attractions were opened to hikers. These included the monastery in Trnovo, the Church of St. Helena in Prem with its murals by Tone Kralj, other churches along the trail, Novak's Mill, the old village school, Kette's Memorial Room, and Prem Castle. A cultural programme was also held at the castle.

The audience was impressed by Gregor Budal in the image of Dragotin Kette, members of the Ilirska Bistrica Literary Society interpreted Kette's poems with love themes, and the Dragotin Kette Male Choir sang.

The hike was organised by the Municipality of Ilirska Bistrica, the Ilirska Bistrica Tourist Information Centre (TIC), and the Ilirska Bistrica Literary Society. Along the route, hikers also enjoyed the warm hospitality of local residents, who generously provided refreshments at several stops.
The first refreshment station was set up in Trnovo by the Kragulj family and their neighbours, followed by another in the middle of Zarečje. The final stop before the ascent to Prem was in Smrje.

The VDC Koper, Ilirska Bistrica unit also involved users in the preparation of the walk. They prepared beautiful scrolls with Kette's poems, which were given to the hikers as a souvenir.
