EXPERIENCE BRKINI through the flavours and stories of the local people.
Accompanied by guide and local history expert Gorazd Maslo, you will walk to the reconstructed facilities of the Zalesje Partisan Hospital, where wounded fighters and local residents were treated during the Second World War. The trail is easy and well marked, approximately 1.5 km each way. Upon returning to Ostrožno Brdo, you will visit the memorial room with its museum collection. The experience will conclude with a traditional Brkini meal served at the premises of the Ostrožno Brdo Local Community.

The Brkini offer breathtaking views. From Ostrožno Brdo, you can see as far as the distant Kamnik–Savinja Alps, the nearby Nanos Plateau, our very own “White Mountain”, Snežnik, and the neighbouring villages of the Brkini hills.
The unspoilt nature invites everyone looking to relax and unwind to enjoy a leisurely walk, hike or bike ride.

BASIC INFORMATION

Meeting point: 2:00 p.m. in front of the Memorial Room in Ostrožno Brdo (Ostrožno Brdo 49, 6255 Prem)

Suitable for: private groups or individuals interested in discovering the history hidden within the Brkini forests.

Price: 25,00 €/person

The price includes:

  • guide,
  • dinner (a traditional Brkini dish, homemade štrudelj/štruklji, and homemade juice)
  • admission to the Memorial Room and the reconstructed facilities.

Participation in the event is at your own risk.

The event will be photographed. The photographs may be used for promotional purposes by the Ilirska Bistrica Tourist Information Centre (TIC Ilirska Bistrica).
