Cycling Along Ilirska Bistrica’s Hidden Trails

Enjoy a diverse cycling experience along scenic forest gravel roads leading to the source of the Reka River.

Route:
This circular cycling tour starts in Ilirska Bistrica and takes you to the source of the Reka River. The route is approximately 36 km long with around 500 metres of elevation gain. The tour begins on the main road towards Zabiče before continuing along a combination of gravel and paved roads through villages, open fields, and shady forests, where temperatures remain pleasantly cool even during the summer months.
At the highest point of the route, a short but steep walk leads to the source of the Reka River. Those who prefer to skip the hike can instead relax by the water and cool off in the natural pool before returning. The return follows the same route back to Ilirska Bistrica.

Equipment:
A roadworthy bicycle suitable for gravel roads*
Cycling helmet

* Electric bicycles are available for rent at the Tourist Information Centre for an additional fee (according to the current price list). Please let us know when registering if you would like to reserve one.

Participation Fee:
€10.00 per person, payable at the Tourist Information Centre before the start of the tour.

Suitable footwear is required for the short but steep walk to the source of the Reka River.
